I hope this movie can stand alone, as the others seemed to be the trilogy. If it can stand on its own two feet, without relying on the others, then it can be very good. If it is milking every last joke or scene out of the first three it will be a waste. Direct from Disney’s press release:

In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love–or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.
A script lost in a cafe and found – really! this happens a lot, British tabloid The Sun is claiming one of its readers found the top-secret script for the next Pirates of The Caribbean movie in a Central London coffee house and delivered it to them. Apparently, movie executives dropped in for lunch and forgot to take it with them.
Filming started yesterday in Hawaii on the fourth film in the $3billion franchise, which sees Johnny Depp‘s Captain Jack Sparrow in search of the Fountain of Youth.
According to Rhe Sun, the guy who delivered the 194-page screenplay to them refused to read it because he’s a huge fan and wants to wait until the movie comes out. He said: “I’m a big fan of the films, but I managed to resist the urge to have a read. I want to enjoy the movie when it comes out.”
