Angelina Jolie – talking kids and movies

Posted by onthego On June - 28 - 2010

Angelina talks kids and movies, and possibly not doing movies any more. In a Vanity Fair article, she said that she is focused on her kids and family and that she may do movies for a few more years.

We like working together, but we work together every day,” she goes on. “We’re building the most important thing together. A family. We have great adventures, we have travel. We’re raising children. So we don’t need to take away from that to express it on film.”

She also spends a large portion of the interview preparing us for her eventual departure from Hollywood, saying things like “I don’t think I’ll do it much longer” and “[Brad and I] will do films for the next few years, then we’ll do something else.”

Footloose movie remake

Posted by onthego On June - 27 - 2010

Well, the 80’s hit is being remade, not sure if you can top Kevin Bacon in that role. I am willing to give it a shot, it was a good movie back then, and has probably been long enough that a remake might make it. From bbc news:
footloose_kenny1_bodyap
The character Ren McCormack will now be played by Kenny Wormald, a 25-year-old dancer best known for his appearances on MTV reality show Dancelife.

High School Musical star Zac Efron and Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford had previously been linked to the role, originally played by Kevin Bacon.

The film, directed by Craig Brewer, is set to be released on 1 April 2011.

Brewer took over the project after the withdrawal of Hairspray director Adam Shankman and High School Musical’s Kenny Ortega.

“I can promise Footloose fans that I will be true to the spirit of the original film,” said Brewer, director of the Oscar-winning Hustle and Flow.

Jonah Hex – getting some horrible reviews

Posted by onthego On June - 27 - 2010

You hear about movies getting bad reviews, maybe that Megan Fox cannot act that well. Boy, are people writing some bad reviews of Jonah Hex. I haven’t seen reviews this bad since Glitter. From examiner.com

There’s a reason this thing still hasn’t earned $10 million. The poster on the above right shows you how you can expect to spend the 70-odd minutes that make up Jonah Hex. Upon hearing that, you might try and bullsh-t yourself into thinking that a movie that’s barely an hour and ten minutes long couldn’t possibly be all that bad, but you’d be beyond mistaken: those 70 minutes felt like an eternity. I’ve never had a colonoscopy, but I’d imagine that it would seem to last less time than the showing of Jonah Hex that had its way with me this evening. This is certainly the winner of the title “Best Worst Movie” of the summer, but it’s not good in a bad way. Rather, it’s bad in a painful, shameful way.

John Lithgow signed on for Planet of the Apes

Posted by onthego On June - 27 - 2010

The Planet of the Apes franchise is a great story with some solid movies, many with weak points, but the premise is great. Looks like Hollywood is trying another reboot.
From the Hollywood Reporter:

Rupert Wyatt will direct the feature, which focuses on a scientist (Franco) who has been working on a cure for Alzheimer’s that is being tested on apes. The test subject named Caesar evolves rapidly, and the scientist takes him home to live with him and protects him from cruel doctors. Lithgow will play Franco’s Alzheimer’s-stricken father. Pinto is the movie’s female lead, a primatologist.

Adam Sandler’s Grown Ups

Posted by onthego On June - 25 - 2010

Seems this movie isn’t getting good reviews. Too much work at the jokes and they are not that funny. Sandler humor usually works well, but at a 12 yr old level. We will see how word of mouth treats it with the summertime teen crowd.
